Day 1: Arrival in Offenburg

Individual arrival in Offenburg. The historical Old Town of Offenburg has a calm atmosphere and because of its many restaurants and bars you can start your Black Forest tour with a first try of the local cuisine. Overnight in Offenburg or surrounding area.

Day 2: Offenburg - Hausach (60 km)

Breakfast and departure for your first day’s stage. You ride through a beautiful wine-growing region and to Staufenberg Castle that is surrounded by vineyards. Later in the day, you enter the first forests of the tour and you can enjoy the breathtaking view from Mooskopf Tower over the vast Black Forest. You pass some typical towns like the Old Town of Wolfach. Overnight in Hausach or surrounding area.

Altitude difference: 1.560 m – Level of difficulty: 2-3/5

Day 3: Hausach - Titisee-Neustadt (65 km)

After breakfast, you follow a small creek and you have the opportunity to visit the Black Forest Open Air Museum “Vogtsbauernhof” (Farmhouse). It is one of the most successful open air museums in Germany: Constructed like a village, you can enter farmhouses from all Black Forest regions – the farmhouses were removed from its original sites and reconstructed in the open air museum. Each house and all adjoining buildings (barns etc.) can be entered and are furnished the original way with authentic exhibitions. Watch a real carpenter at work, or the women making bobbin laces, and don’t get frightened when you are alone in a living room and suddenly a cuckoo clock declare the full hour. After the museum, if you still look for some adrenaline, visit the summer bob track just next door. The rest of the route guides you through valleys, on mountains and through somme pretty Black Forest villages. After checking in in Titisee-Neustadt, you can take your swimming things and cycle to the natural lake Titi. Overnight in Titisee-Neustadt.

Altitude difference: 1.220 m – Level of difficulty: 2/5

Day 4: Titisee-Neustadt - Freiburg im Breisgau (65 km)

Today is a tough day and amazing rewards are waiting for you. You ride up to Mount Feldberg, the highest mountain in Black Forest. The forest becomes lighter the higher you get – and on clear days, you can even see the Montblanc of the Alps! Riding down the hill afterwards is a lot of fun. Later, you can visit the Todtnau Waterfalls – with one of the highest waterfalls of Germany. From Todtnau, the route to Freiburg im Breisgau is not long, and you cross the Old Town of Freiburg. Overnight in Freiburg im Breisgau.

Altitude difference: 1.370 m – Level of difficulty: 2-3/5

Day 5: Roundtrip Freiburg im Breisgau (75 km)

This day is dedicated to enjoyment and gourmet. It is a roundtrip through one of Germany’s most famous wine-growing areas, to castle ruins, over the Kaiserstuhl hills, through a breathtaking arboretum with Sequoia trees and to small, lovely villages. En route is also a lake where you can have a swim. On the way back, you pass the winery Gerhard Karle which opens daily and where we can highly recommend to stop for a wine tasting. If you “tried” too many glasses: a train brings you directly from the village back to Freiburg. For everyone who wants to go back by bike, we recommend a stop for dinner at the indoor and outdoor restaurant “Forellen-Stüble” (the GPS route guides you close to it) in order to try a local dish: trout from own breeding. Overnight as previous day. If you want, you can extend your stay in Freiburg (see Extras).

Altitude difference: 820 m – Level of difficulty: 2/5

Day 6: Freiburg im Breisgau - Offenburg (90 km)

On you last day’s stage, you enjoy large river beds. Passing small parks of Freiburg, you reach the Dreisam river, ride along a beautiful valley just next to the Kaiserstuhl hills and finally reach the Rhine river with its natural water meadows. On your way, local restaurants and typical beer gardens invite you to rest and enjoy your last day, before reaching your final destination, Offenburg. Overnight in Offenburg or surrounding area (see Extras).

Altitude difference: 150 m – Level of difficulty: 1/5

Day 7: Departure from Offenburg

After breakfast, individual departure. If you want, you can extend your stay in order to discover on your own the very close city of Strasbourg (France).
